When Espanola Roberts was younger, she ate all the time .
Breakfast was three of four bowls of cereal. At dinner , she ''d clean her plate and then go back for seconds and third. When the family had pizza, she''d eat eight pieces.
"I would stay at the table and eat,eat,eat until i would almost get sick,"Ropberts says. Then a few hours later, she ''d go back for candy , cookies ,and cakes.
She''s not sure why she ate like this ;no one else in her family did. But her eating habits lead to a terrible result. By the age of 14, Roberts weighed 272 pounds and was getting D''s and F''s in school.
In March of 2001, Roberts, who was 14 and weighed 258 pounds, went to her first Weight Watchers meeting.
"I wanted to do something I could live with for the rest of my life. Iwanted to eat real food," she says.
Since that time, she was been following the program. limiuting herself to fewer than 22 points a day.
" When you are forbidden to eat something , you want it even more," she says ."When you have the right to have it, you don''t want it.
She exercises daily, either doing an aerobic warking or riding a bike for 30 minnitrs." I have fun doing it .
Last year, after one and a half years in the program ,she reached her goal weight of 121 pounds. Now at the age of 16, she weights 120 pounds and is 5feet,2 inches.
Roberts, a high school student, is now a straight--A student. She plans to follow this program for life, and one day she wants to be a leader.
She has changed everything----her eating habits, exercise habits, and grades.
Roberts says she''s not tempted by cakes or French fries anymore. Her old eating habits are behind her."I realize now you eat to live, not live to eat."
