First of all,I would like to express sincere congratulations on the launchingof“Economy,Society & Culture in Tangshan”,column by Journal of TangshanCollege and extend my cordial greetings to all the teachers and students of Tan gshan College.It is everyone's goal and desire to develop economy and society and build amore prosperous, brighter and more harmonious Tangshan. In recent yearsTangshan has adhered to development,the first priority,implemented scientificdevelopment concept and achieved great progress in opening to the outsideworld and reform and modernization efforts. The achievements owe much toTangshan people's hardwork and also diligence of Tangshan College. Now weare in an era of building well off society in a comprehensive way and ,in parti cular,Caofeidian Industrial Zone is well under extensive construction,turning o ver a new leaf in Tangshan history. Hebei provcincial Party committee andgoverment have called on Tangshan to become the regional economic center andthe leader in social and economic development in Hebei Province. Facing newopportunities and challenges,people from all walks of life must work closely todo well what we should.Tangshan College ,a disciplinary institute ,occupies a very important posi tion in Tangshan higer education. Since its establishment , especially 2002, ithas deepened teaching reform,enrolled more students,improved teaching level,trained lots of qualified graduates and completed several state provincial pro jects of scientific research.
